We don’t want to get all Michael’s or Walmart or Home Depot on you and start talking about Advent and Christmas before Halloween or Thanksgiving, but we’re going to need your help preparing for Advent this November!

No, we’re not moving the Hanging of the Green into November (it will still be the first Sunday of December – 12/1) or the Choir’s Christmas Cantata (Sunday, December 8th at 11am) or Blue Christmas (Wednesday, December 18th at 6pm). All our regularly schedule Advent and Christmas activities will remain in their proper place.

This Advent, though, we’ll be looking at the three visits from angels that lead up to Christ’s birth. We know we live lives surrounded by angels every day and we want to (literally) surround ourselves with angels in our sanctuary through December. This is where we need your help!

To make this happen, we’re thinking we’ll need to make a few hundred paper angels. Starting next Wednesday, we’ll begin making them to string across the sanctuary. We’ll hear a story about angels and a young child who hopes to find her mother the perfect gift for Christmas. This story will also teach us how to make the angels we’ll use in the sanctuary. If you want to help us out, join us on Wednesday evening, November 6th at 6pm or take patterns home with you and return your completed angels to the church office by November 20th.

We promise not to bombard you with the “All Christmas, all the Time” radio that’s sure to kickoff soon. We’ll continue our November traditions of celebrating All Saints Sunday (This Sunday, November 3!), gathering for our Churchwide Thanksgiving Meal and Alternative Gift Fair Launch on Wednesday, November 20, and even adding a new event (that might become a tradition…) by inviting our community to join us for a Movie on the Lawn on Friday, November 22. Bundle up, bring a friend, and help us continue to share our blessings with our neighbors around us.

And while you’re at it, we hope you’ll be an angel and help us transform our sanctuary into the heavenly host.

Kat and Brett
