Last month a group of UBC kids led by Kat Spangler and Virginia Butler travelled to Passportkids camp. The theme for this year’s camp was “Follow the Road.” Using the characters from the Wizard of Oz, we explored what it means to follow Christ, how we can use our hearts and minds to love and serve God, what it means to defend and care for those who are treated poorly, and how Christ can make us new. Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me.” John 14:6a (The Message). We traveled the road from Hattiesburg, MS, to Crossville, TN, continued on to the Land of Oz (and Sloz), made our way to India, and back to Hattiesburg all in a matter of 5 days!

Each day we celebrated, studied scripture, played, ate, created through cooking, crafts and other activities, explored missions, learning about the Banjara Gypsies, and worshiped together. It was a week packed with fun, meaningful and formational activities. We met new friends, got messy, served and experienced the love of God in new ways. Each night, we participated in new, fun activities: We went to the land of Sloz where we got soaked and slimed, went to the Holy Festival where we learned more about the Culture of the Banjara people, and were entertained by a variety show, ending the night with a dance party!

We’re incredibly thankful for all your prayers and support as we experienced the goodness of camp that week!
