August 7 Back Door!
Friday, August 7 at 7:30 (doors open at 7pm)
First Friday in August
Cary Hudson & Thomas Jackson!
Live in concert!
Cary Hudson is a singer-songwriter recording artist and guitarist from Sumrall, Mississippi. He appreciates all styles of music ranging from church and gospel to country and blues. A founding member of the alternative country-rock band, Blue Mountain, Cary traveled and performed internationally for more than 25 years before deciding to become a solo artist.
Thomas Jackson is a guitarist, vocalist from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Jackson favors a blend of acoustic stylings and modern Americana with a little bit of blues and country mixed in for good measure.
Fans of Thomas and Cary (and who isn’t?) will be excited to hear that these talented singer/songwriters will be on stage together at THE BACK DOOR for two fun sets.
Featured Writer: David W. Walker
The writer’s set will feature local author & shameless Back Door Host, David Walker reading a short passage from his brand new Clay Latham mystery novel “The Case of the Missing Jesuses.”
Carey & Thomas will be happy to sign a copy of their CD. Main Street Books will be in the house to sell copies of Walker’s latest book.
We’ll have the doors open by 7:00pm (if you come earlier, we’ll let you in anyway!) and the full concert night will begin at 7:30 with our broadcast going out on WUSM 88.5.
Please feel free to pass along an invitation to our event.

About the Back Door Coffeehouse
University Baptist Church has served as the host of the monthly Back Door Coffeehouse since 1992. The Back Door is a unique ministry of community where local writers, musicians, and poets are featured in an intimate and relaxed candlelight and coffee atmosphere typically held on the first Friday of every month from 7:30 – 9:30P.M. There is no charge for admission, although donations for soft drinks, candy, coffee, etc. are appreciated.
Periodically, various nationally known musicians and performers are secured by donations from patrons and neighborhood sponsors for special concerts to promote this unique artistic venue to a larger audience. Such acclaimed recording artists as Kate Campbell, Pierce Pettis, Caroline Herring, Tracy Grammer, and Steve Forbert have graced our stage, though we are also proud to promote the talents of our own regional musicians and writers. Performers often portray a wide variety of ideas and styles. In supporting the open and honest artistic expression of our neighbors, there will at times be some readings neither intended nor appropriate for children. A nursery worker is provided for parents without additional cost.
If you wish to receive our monthly Back Door Coffeehouse e-mail messages, please contact us at email@example.com. We open the back doors of the UBC fellowship hall by 7:00pm and the show (usually 3 live sets of music and/or readings) begins at 7:30.
